Bread that’s Alive?

Ezekiel BreadBread that’s Alive?

Today’s marketplace presents us with so many “bread options”, it is difficult to decide what to buy. There are breads that hold little to no nutritional value (ahem, white breads), breads that are a bit better (wheat breads), better still (100% whole wheat or grain), and then there are the nutritional dynamo breads—breads that’s alive!

Living or sprouted grain bread is baked from whole grains which have been allowed to soak in water a while, prompting them to begin to “come alive”, or sprout. Sprouts of any kind are premature plants, if you will. They are nutritionally dense in vitamins and phytonutrients because they are the precursor of an entire adult plant.

The most well-known of these sprouted grain breads on the market is produced by the company, Food For Life®. Their best selling product, Ezekiel Bread is made from the recipe found in the passage of the Bible, Ezekiel 4:9.  (“Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself.”) Bread made from this recipe has been shown to be nutritionally complete, low in glycemic index, and high in fiber. Could you ask for more?

So the next time you are building a sandwich for yourself, or serving up some toast with your eggs, try super-charging your meal with a sprouted grain bread. Your body will thank you later!
