Happy Independence Day!

Today the United States celebrates its independence from England with firework shows, marching bands, flag waving, and of course, backyard barbeques. So, in keeping with the food-based festivities, I thought I’d give you my spin on a red, white, and blue theme you may want to offer to those you plan to celebrate with.

RED- Today is the day to indulge in watermelon. I used to dismiss watermelon as being all water and no value. Now I know watermelon is as nutritious as its flesh is red. Teeming with vitamins C, A, and another anti-aging/cancer-fighting component called lycopene, this is truly a melon on a mission! So, help yourself to a hefty slice.

WHITE- Everyone loves a good macaroni salad, and now you can have one without all the guilt of refined flour. By filling your holiday with these good-for-you RED, WHITE and BLUES, you will join the United States in remaining independent—from the healthcare system—far into your sunset years.
